Wellbeing toolbox 101
Everyone needs a toolbox. Life is crazy and full of unpredictable turns, pain, up and downs, challenges, and sometimes unresolved trauma. To maintain a healthy balance and to stay sane, we need tools. These are simple things you can turn to every day to uplift yourself and to remind yourself that goodness and well-being are accessible.
My toolbox includes my dog (a velvety chocolate lab), Saturday morning yoga practice, wild dancing (of course), cooking from scratch, walks around my neighborhood, nature, spending quality time with my children, journaling, Canada geese, and hot showers.
These are some things that I use to feel better. This is not a random list that I just wrote over here. It has taken me years of getting to know myself to be able to identify things that I TRULY LOVE and that nurture me. These are not things that someone else thinks are enjoyable. These are MY THINGS. Yes, my favorite things.
What are your favorite things? Are they truly YOURS?? Do you KNOW what you like? What do you love? What makes you feel peaceful and joyful inside? You know, that feeling of an inspiring song rising in you?
The journey of self-discovery is essential to well-being. If we don’t know what we like/want/need, we cannot fully enjoy our lives. Honesty is an extremely important component here. This is a process that is done BY you and FOR you. Not for your parents or your friends or your bosses or your partner or your children. It can be a scary process because so much of our culture is based on external validation. But it is a worthy process, and if you need help, I am happy to help you with the journey and to empower you to live your best life! Give yourself time and space!
